Come and enjoy our garden...best in the summer of course, but during the winter you can share cold hands but warm hearts out in the smoking area. it's like a club for the elite out there, where the dodgy charachters who only come out at night rub shoulders with the with the sqeaky clean, who only come out for a fag. We've also now got the kids play area finished, with swings, and safety floor, and swings, and...well all kinds of stuff! have a pint without worrying abou the little blighters!

OUR

GARDEN

LARGE GARDEN WITH PLENTY OF SEATING....

Some people miss the opportunity to relax in our huge, rambling, historical even, garden behind the pub. All sorts of activities go on here, daytimes and evenings. In the evening, smokers congregate to tell stories of the old days, when you could prop up the bar with a fag, which meant something totally different in those days of course.

So, pop your head out the door located at the back of the pub...on a cold night, you can warm your hands with a brandy, snuggling up to a close friend, your wife, or somebody elses wife, or someone you've only just clapped eyes on and keep warm round the outside Chimenea burning happily away. Nothing like a fireglow to make even the hardest heart melt.

Romantic or what?

During the summer months though, you can get rat arsed with the usual in- crowd...cold beers long evenings sometimes summer tunes seem to come out of nowhere.... Some people have said they've seen a Cult 45 or two, or Bill out of Bill & Matt gently strumming away in the seated area out back, doing impromptu sing-songs on a summers night...though I don't believe this myself.

SO WHO'S BURIED IN THE BACK GARDEN OF THE BULLS HEAD PUB?..ANY LIGHT SHONE ON THIS?

The mystery of the headstone to the very rear of the garden, through the clearing that leads to a small copse, rolls on. Some Local historians say its a henchman of Dick Turpin, who tried to turn his boss into the authorities in 1775, the date on the headstone, and came to a sticky end after a duel in the pubs back garden. The inscription on the Tombstone, which is there to see at the back of the garden  reads as follows:

" Here Lieth John Walkling of Simmons Hans Who Died May the 8 1775 Age 50 Years"

Anyone know anymore about the mysterious last resting place?  It's not believed the body is still under there, but if it is, Vernon has asked for a small fee for the use of the ground, as rent. Fair play.

The Actual tombstone. Go find it...if you dare!
